Enjoy The English Riviera
Torquay is the closest you’ll get to the Mediterranean without going abroad and is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful coast and countryside of South Devon including Torbay, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

The English Riviera stands apart from other UK destinations because of the incredible beaches that it has to offer with a number of stunning beaches and bays in the immediate vicinity of Torquay.
The famous South West Coast path transforms a relaxing and idyllic visit to the English Riviera and South Devon into an exciting walking adventure. The coast path stretches for 630 miles and is the UK’s longest.

Torquay is also the birthplace of Agatha Christie, one of the world’s most famous author of crime novels. She wrote her first novels while living in the resort and indeed the area features in no less than 15 of her novels. As well as walking the Agatha Christie Mile in Torquay, her home Greenway, a National Trust property, is also on our doorstep. The International Agatha Christie festival (insert hyperlink - The Agatha Christie Festival - Festival in Torquay, Torquay - English Riviera) takes place in Torquay each September with scheduled events throughout the week.

Torquay offers a wide range of restaurants and bars, catering for all tastes and within easy walking distance of The Berburry. Wendy and Steve will be happy to make recommendations either during your stay or beforehand or visit our What’s New page to see our latest favourites.
